I received my holiday present early this year: two days before Christmas, I made Burrito laugh.
And then I almost cried.
How can something so small be such a big deal? Even though he has been with us for well over a year, I think Mr. B is still working on letting his guard down. He has a few favorite caregivers, but for the rest of us, he can be quite shy and aloof. And he very rarely (if ever!) laughs.
A chimp laugh is such a joyful sound - perhaps one of my favorite sounds in the whole world. So I took special pleasure when I elicited this sound from Burrito by tickling his belly with a toy. Being able to bring joy to Burrito is an incomparable honor.
For the staff and volunteers at CSNW, there's no greater gift than being able to make our chimpanzee friends happy.
Your tax-deductible end-of-year donation today will help us continue to make merriment throughout the New Year.
We're celebrating Burrito's 27th birthday on January 6th. Please consider joining in on the fun and donating in honor of his big day.
Wishing you much joy in the New Year,

Sarah Baeckler, JD
Executive Director
